The tenth anniversary Fal River Walk took place in glorious sunshine (for the most part) after a week of what seemed like constant rain – with predictable anxiety for the organisers!

149 people turned out to walk, almost equally divided between the two routes, with a commendable number of younger participants.

Once again the start and finish in the Stable Yard at Trelissick Gardens (thanks to the National Trust and its ever-helpful staff) provided a charming and historical setting for the assembly, the mass starts, and the now-traditional cream tea with musical accompaniment.

The event consists of

  • a Long Walk of about 15 miles or a Short Walk of about 6 miles (see map below)
  • ferry crossings specially arranged for the event by Cornwall Ferries and not available on any other occasion
  • a generous cream tea for all walkers
  • free parking all day at Trelissick for walkers

A schematic map of the routes for the Fal River Walk 2017 is shown below.
